Arrive in Luang Prabang, where you will meet your guide and be transferred to your hotel.

We will begin our tour at Wat Visoun, a temple built around 1520 during King Visounarat's reign. In 1942, it was converted into a Museum of Religious Arts, showcasing Buddha images and artifacts dating back to the fourteenth century. A short drive along the Nam Khan River will take us to Wat Xieng Thong, one of the most significant temples in Laos and the most important in Luang Prabang. Until 1975, when the Communist Party took control, it served as a royal temple supported by the royal family. The temple underwent significant renovation in the 1960s, resulting in the beautiful structure we see today.

After a brief stroll, we will reach Wat Mai (“New Monastery”), constructed in 1796 and restored in 1821 by King Manthathourat. Its most notable feature is the gilded relief panels on the front facade, which narrate the story of the Buddha's highest incarnation, Vessentara. The gilded door frames blend seamlessly into the relief, creating an impressive golden wall effect. Adjacent to Wat Mai is the National Museum (closed on Tuesdays), which was formerly the Royal Palace (Haw Kham). Your guide will provide insights as you explore the museum, which displays the Royal throne of the Lane Xang kingdom and many other religious artifacts.

To conclude our day, we will ascend Phou Si hill, adorned with numerous small temples and shrines. At the summit, you'll find a gilded stupa built on a prominent rock formation, with a previously open section now sealed to prevent vandalism. Next to the stupa is a small chapel for prayers. Lower on the hill is part of Wat Phra Buddabhat (The Buddha's Footprint Temple). Here, you can enjoy a scenic view of the peninsula where the Nam Khan and Mekong rivers converge.
